U.S. Dimes have enjoyed great popularity with collectors since day one. The Draped Dimes of 1796-1807 are very tough to find and sell very quickly. The Capped Bust Dimes of 1809-1837 are more readily available and average circulated coins can be purchased at a modest price. The obverse of the Seated Liberty Dimes of 1837-1891 pictures a very popular and atheistically pleasing portrait of Liberty. The Barber Dimes of 1892-1916 have seen modest growth in popularity over the past few years. The Mercury Dimes (a.k.a. Winged Liberty) of 1916-1945 have been the most popular Dimes with collectors and the later dates are readily available in Uncirculated condition. The Roosevelt Dimes of 1946-1964 were made of .900 fine silver, as were all Dimes before them. Then, in 1965 the Roosevelt Dimes the Dimes were made of .750 copper and .250 nickel.Last Updated: Monday, 06 September 2010 16:17
